Fernride

FERNRIDE builds technology that lets trucks in logistics hubs, such as container terminals and freight yards, drive autonomously, with a human operator able to take over remotely whenever needed. The company spun out of the Technical University of Munich’s Automotive Engineering department in 2019, initially under the name Pylot. We developed its brand identity in collaboration with Speedinvest Pirates, at a time when the company was setting out to make autonomous, electric trucking a reality. The identity is designed to feel precise and technological while staying human and approachable, much like the product itself, which brings people and machines together.

Since then, FERNRIDE has grown remarkably. It raised €75 million in total funding, fueling dual-use autonomous logistics solutions across Europe, and transformed civilian logistics for customers such as HHLA and Volkswagen. In 2025, FERNRIDE became the first company in Europe to obtain TÜV approval for autonomous trucks, and in December of that year Quantum Systems, Europe’s market leader in AI-powered unmanned systems, announced the acquisition of FERNRIDE.
